Chapter on Making Up the Month of Ramadan, and the Ruling of One Who Breaks the Fast in It Intentionally and Forgetfully, and One upon Whom Fasting Two Consecutive Months Is Obligatory and He Breaks the Fast during Them, or upon Whom There Is a Vow Regarding Fasting
And that which Muhammad ibn Yaqub narrated, from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, and Muhammad ibn Ismail, from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan, all together from Ibn Abi Umayr, from Jamil and Muhammad ibn Humran, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him:
(Imam عليه السلام was asked) regarding ‘a free man upon whom the fasting of two consecutive months becomes binding in zihar, so he fasts a month, then becomes ill.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “He begins anew (two consecutive months). But if he exceeded the other month by one day or two days, he builds upon what remains.”
