Chapter on Making Up the Month of Ramadan, and the Ruling of One Who Breaks the Fast in It Intentionally and Forgetfully, and One upon Whom Fasting Two Consecutive Months Is Obligatory and He Breaks the Fast during Them, or upon Whom There Is a Vow Regarding Fasting
And what al-Husayn ibn Said also narrated, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from Ali, from Abu Basir, who said:
I (narrator) asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘interrupting the fasting of the expiation of an oath, the expiation of zihar, and the expiation of blood.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “If a man has upon him the fasting of two consecutive months, then he breaks the fast or becomes ill in the first month, then upon him is to repeat the fasting. But if he fasted the first month and fasted something (by even a day) from the second month, then something occurs to him for which he has an excuse, then upon him is only to make it up.”
