Chapter on Making Up the Month of Ramadan, and the Ruling of One Who Breaks the Fast in It Intentionally and Forgetfully, and One upon Whom Fasting Two Consecutive Months Is Obligatory and He Breaks the Fast during Them, or upon Whom There Is a Vow Regarding Fasting
Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated, from Muhammad ibn Isa, from his father, from al-Sayqal:
He (narrator) wrote to Imam عليه السلام: “My master, a man vowed to fast a day for Allah سبحانه وتعالى, then on that day he had intercourse with his wife. What expiation is upon him?” Imam عليه السلام answered him: “He fasts a day in place of a day, and frees a believing slave.”
