Muhammad ibn Sinan, from Abd al-Ala ibn Ayan, who said: I (narrator) asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘a man who had intercourse with his wife while he was observing seclusion for worship (mutakif) at night in the month of Ramadan.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “Upon him is the expiation (kaffarah).” He (narrator) said: “I asked: ‘Then if he has intercourse with her during the daytime?’” Imam عليه السلام said: “Upon him are two expiations (kaffaratan).”
