Chapter on Fasting Shaban

Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Faddal, from Muhassin ibn Ahmad, Muhammad ibn al-Walid, Amr ibn Uthman, and Sindi ibn Muhammad, all of them from Yunus ibn Yaqub, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: I (narrator) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘the fast of Shaban’, And I said to Imam عليه السلام: “May I be made your ransom, did any of your fathers عليه السلام, peace be upon them, fast the month of Shaban?” Imam عليه السلام said: “The best of my fathers (ancestors), the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, peace and blessings of Allah سبحانه وتعالى be upon him and his family, had most of his fasting in the month of Shaban.”
