Chapter on Additions

Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from al-Barqi, from Yunus ibn Hisham, from Hafs ibn Ghiyath, from Ja’far ibn Muhammad عليه السلام, peace be upon him: Imam عليه السلام said: “The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, would often spit on the day of Ashura into the mouths of nursing children from the descendants of Sayyidah Fatimah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, peace be upon her, from his saliva. And the Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم would say, ‘Do not feed them anything until the night.’ And they would be quenched by the saliva of the blessed Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family.” Imam عليه السلام said: “And the wild animals used to fast on the day of Ashura during the time of Dawud عليه السلام, peace be upon him.”
