Chapter on Additions

From him, from Yaqub ibn Yazid, from Yahya ibn al-Mubarak, from Abdullah ibn Jabalah, from Ishaq ibn Ammar, from Abdullah ibn Jundab, who said: Abbad ibn Maymun asked (Abdullah ibn Jundab), while I (narrator) was present, about ‘a man who had imposed upon himself a vow (nadhr) of fasting and wanted to go out for the Hajj.’ So Abdullah ibn Jundab said: “I heard from Zurarah, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, that he (Zurarah) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘a man who had imposed upon himself a vow of fasting, then he formed an intention to visit Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “He goes out and does not fast it on the road, then when he returns, he makes that up.”
