Chapter on Intention of Fasting

Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub, from Muawiyah ibn Hakim, from Safwan, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj, who said: I (narrator) asked Abu al-Hasan Musa عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘a man who enters the morning without having eaten or drunk, and without having intended a fast, while he owes a day from the month of Ramadan. May he fast that day when most of the day has already passed?’ Imam عليه السلام said: “Yes, he may fast it and count it as being from the month of Ramadan.”
