The Signs of the Mahdī’s Reappearance

علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه، عن محمد بن الفضيل، عن أبيه، عن منصور، قال: قال أبو عبداللّه عليه السلام: يا منصور، إنّ هذا الأمر لا يأتيكم إلّا بعد يأس، لا والله، لا يأتيكم حتى تميّزوا، لا والله لا يأتيكم حتى تمحّصوا، ولا والله لا يأتيكم حتى يشقى من شقى، ويسعد من سعد.
ʿAlī b. Ibrāhīm, from his father, from Muḥammad b. al-Fuḍayl, from his father, from Manṣūr, who narrated: “Abū ʿAbd Allāh عليه السلام said: “O’ Manṣūr! This matter will not come to you except after despair. No, by Allāh, it will not come to you until you have been winnowed. No, by Allāh, it will not come to you until you have been sifted. No, by Allāh, it will not come to you until the wretched are brought to wretchedness and the felicitous to felicity.”
