Chapter on the Description of Ablution (Wudu)

مَا أَخْبَرَنِي بِهِ اَلشَّيْخُ أَيَّدَهُ اَللَّهُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ وَ أَبِيهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ وَ بُكَيْرٍ اِبْنَيْ أَعْيَنَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:« فِي اَلْمَسْحِ تَمْسَحُ عَلَى اَلنَّعْلَيْنِ وَ لاَ تُدْخِلُ يَدَكَ تَحْتَ اَلشِّرَاكِ وَ إِذَا مَسَحْتَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ رَأْسِكَ أَوْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ قَدَمَيْكَ مَا بَيْنَ كَعْبَيْكَ إِلَى أَطْرَافِ اَلْأَصَابِعِ فَقَدْ أَجْزَأَكَ».
The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, informed me, saying: Ahmad ibn Muhammad reported to me, from his father, from Saʿd ibn Abdullah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ʿIsa, from al-Husayn ibn Saʿid and his father Muhammad ibn ʿIsa, from Muhammad ibn Abi ʿUmayr, from ʿUmar ibn Udhaynah, from Zurarah and Bukayr, the sons of Aʿyan, from Abu Jaʿfar عليه السلام, who said:
Imam عليه السلام said: "In wiping, you may wipe over the sandals without inserting your hand under the strap. If you wipe any part of your head or any part of your feet between the ankles and the tips of the toes, it suffices you."
