Chapter on Description of Tayammum, Its Rules for Those in a State of Impurity, and What They Should Observe About Istibra and Istizhar

The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, narrated to me from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Sa'd ibn Abdullah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Isma'il ibn Hammad al-Kindi: Imam al-Ridha عليه السلام said: "Tayammum (dry ablution) is one strike for the face and one strike for the palms."
