Chapter on What is Permissible and Impermissible to Pray in - of Clothing and Place

From him, from Ibrahim ibn Hashim, from Al-Nawfali, from Al-Sakuni, from (Imam) Ja‘far عليه السلام, from his father عليه السلام, from his forefathers عليه السلام, peace be upon them, who said: The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, said: "If one of you prays in an open desert, let him place in front of him something like the rear of a saddle. If he does not find that, then a stone; if he does not find that, then an arrow; and if he does not find that, then let him draw a line in the ground in front of him."
