Sa‘d ibn Abdullah from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn Hadid, and Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Najran, and al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Hammad ibn Isa from Hariz ibn Abdillah from Zurarah:
Abu Ja‘far عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: “It suffices you in prayer, in the words of directing yourself toward Allah سبحانه وتعالى (‘tawajjuh’), to say: ‘I turn my face toward the One عز وجل who created the heavens and the earth, upon the creed of Abraham, upright and submitting, and I am not among the polytheists. Indeed my prayer, my sacrifice, my life, and my death are for Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Lord عز وجل of the worlds. No partner has He عز وجل, and with this I have been commanded, and I am among the Muslims.’ And one ‘takbirah’ (saying of ‘Allahu Akbar’) is sufficient for you.”
