Chapter on the Detailed Explanation of Prayer, Including the Obligatory and Recommended, and What is Permissible and Not Permissible.
What was narrated by Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa, from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id, from Ibn Abi Umayr, from some of our companions, from Sufyan ibn al-Simt: Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: "You perform the two prostrations of forgetfulness (sajdatay al-sahw) for every addition or deficiency that occurs to you. And whoever leaves out a prostration has certainly committed a deficiency."
