Chapter on the Rulings of Congregational Prayer (the Minimum Number for Congregational Prayer, the Description of the Imam, Who Is to Be Followed and Who Is Not to Be Followed, Recitation Behind Both of Them, the Rulings of Those Led in Prayer, and Other Such Rulings Related to It)

As for what was narrated by Ali ibn al-Hakam from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Arzami, from his father, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “Imam Ali عليه السلام, peace be upon him, once led the people in prayer while not in a state of purity, and it was the Dhuhr prayer. Then Imam عليه السلام entered (his house), and his (prayer) caller came out and announced: ‘Indeed, the Commander of the Faithful عليه السلام, peace be upon him, led the prayer without purity, so repeat (the prayer), and let those present inform those who are absent.’”
