Ali ibn Hatim from Muhammad ibn Ja’far from Muhammad ibn Amr from Ali ibn Muhammad from Ja’far ibn Muhammad from Abdillah ibn Maymun from Ja’far ibn Muhammad from his father Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Husayn from the Commander of the Faithful عليه السلام, peace be upon them, who said: Imam Ali عليه السلام said: “O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, indeed You عز وجل have proclaimed one of Your paths and made Your pleasure reside in it. And You عز وجل have invited Your chosen ones to it, and made it the most honorable of Your paths in reward with You عز وجل, the noblest of them in ultimate return, and the most beloved of them to You عز وجل as a course. Then You عز وجل purchased in it from the believers their souls and their wealth in exchange for Paradise; they fight in Your way, ‘so they kill and are killed’ (Surah At-Tawbah 9:111), a true promise binding upon You عز وجل. So make me among those who sold their soul to You عز وجل in this way, And then fulfilled for You عز وجل the sale with which they pledged You عز وجل, without ever breaking that pledge. And without breaking a covenant, nor changing anything except in pursuit of the fulfillment of Your promise, in response to Your love, and seeking nearness to You عز وجل through it. So send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and his family عليه السلام, and make it the seal of my deeds. And grant me in it a witnessing for Your sake and by Your command, through which You عز وجل make Your pleasure incumbent upon me and by which You عز وجل erase my sins. Place me among the living who are provided for at the hands of the disobedient enemies, under the banner of truth and the flag of guidance, proceeding forward in their support without turning back nor introducing doubt. And I seek refuge in You عز وجل at that moment from sin that nullifies deeds.
