Chapter on Supplication Between the Units of Prayer (Rak‘at)

Ali ibn Hatim, from Muhammad ibn Ja’far, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad, from Ali ibn Hassan, from Isa ibn Bashir, from a man, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him: Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I ask You عز وجل by the meanings of all that Your servants, whom You عز وجل have chosen for Yourself, have called upon You عز وجل with; those entrusted with Your secret, those protected under Your Eye, those who conceal themselves with Your religion, those who proclaim it, those who describe Your greatness, those who keep away from disobeying You عز وجل, those who call toward Your path, those who are foremost in Your knowledge, And those who have attained Your honor. I call upon You عز وجل, at the places of Your boundaries and the perfection of Your obedience, and by that with which the guardians of Your command call upon You عز وجل, that You عز وجل send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, And that You عز وجل deal with me in accordance with what You عز وجل are worthy of, and not in accordance with what I am worthy of.’ Then you perform two rak‘ahs.”
