Chapter on the Prayer of the Two Eids

Al-Husayn ibn Said from Hammad ibn Isa from Shuayb from Abu Basir from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, who said: Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “The takbir in (the prayers of) al-Fitr and al-Adha is twelve takbirs. In the first (rak’ah), he says one takbir, then he recites, then after the recitation he says five takbirs, and with the seventh takbir, he bows (in ruku). Then he rises for the second (rak’ah), recites, then says four takbirs, and with the fifth he bows (in rukuh).” And Imam عليه السلام said: “It is appropriate for the Imam to wear a fine garment (hullah) and to wear a turban (imamah), whether it is winter or summer.”
