Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 3|Book 2|Chapter 1
Sa’ad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ibn Abi Nasr from Hammad ibn Uthman from Ali ibn Yaqtin, who said:
I said to Abu al-Hasan al-Awwal عليه السلام (the First), peace be upon him: “A man establishes a house and passes by it. Should he perform his prayer in full or shorten it?” Imam عليه السلام said: “Every house that you do not take as a permanent residence (‘tastawtinu-hu’) is not considered your home, and you are not to perform the prayer in full in it.”
