Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 3|Book 2|Chapter 1
From him, from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn, from Safwan, from al-Ala’, from Muhammad, from one of the two Imams عليه السلام, peace be upon them, who said:
Imam عليه السلام said: “When a man escorts (yushayyi‘u) his brother (on a journey), then let him shorten (his prayer).” I asked: “Which of the two is better; that he fasts or that he escorts him and breaks his fast?” Imam عليه السلام said: “(It is better that) He escorts him, for Allah سبحانه وتعالى has lifted it from him when he escorts him.”
