Chapter on Additions Regarding Zakat

Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub, from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn, from Safwan ibn Yahya, from Ishaq ibn Ammar, who said: I (narrator) asked Abu Ibrahim عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘a man who has one hundred dirhams and ten dinars, Is Zakat upon him?’ Imam عليه السلام said: “If he fled with them from Zakat, then Zakat is upon him.” I (narrator) asked: “He did not flee with them; he inherited one hundred dirhams and ten dinars.” Imam عليه السلام said: “There is no Zakat upon him.” I (narrator) asked: “Then he does not break the dirhams against the dinars, nor the dinars against the dirhams?” Imam عليه السلام said: “No.”
