Chapter on Zakat of the Wealth of Children and the Insane
سَعْدُ بْنِ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ اَلْقَاسِمِ بْنِ اَلْفُضَيْلِ اَلْبَصْرِيِّ قَالَ: كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي اَلْحَسَنِ اَلرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ اَلْوَصِيِّ يُزَكِّي زَكَاةَ اَلْفِطْرَةِ عَنِ اَلْيَتَامَى إِذَا كَانَ لَهُمْ مَالٌ فَكَتَبَ» لاَ زَكَاةَ عَلَى مَالِ اَلْيَتِيمِ«.
Sa’ad ibn Abdullah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Muhammad ibn al-Qasim ibn al-Fudayl al-Basri:
I wrote to Abu al-Hasan al-Ridha عليه السلام, asking him about ‘the executor (of orphans wealth), Does he pay zakat al-fitrah on behalf of the orphans if they have wealth?’ Imam عليه السلام wrote: “There is no zakat upon the wealth of the orphan.”
