Chapter on One Incapable of Fasting

Al-Husayn ibn Said, from Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr, from Hammad ibn Uthman, from al-Halabi, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: I (narrator) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘an elderly man who is too weak to fast the month of Ramadan.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “He gives in charity what suffices on his behalf: the food of one poor person for each day (of missed fast).”
