And that which Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated, from Ahmad ibn al-Hasan, from Amr ibn Said, from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqah, from Ammar al-Sabati, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him:
Imam عليه السلام was asked about ‘a man upon whom there are days from the month of Ramadan, and he wants to make them up; when does he intend the fast?’ Imam عليه السلام said: “He has the choice until the sun declines. Then when the sun has declined, if he had intended the fast, then let him fast, and if he had intended breaking the fast, then let him break the fast.” Imam عليه السلام was asked: “If he had intended breaking the fast, is it valid for him to intend the fast after the sun has declined?” Imam عليه السلام said: “No.” Imam عليه السلام was asked: “If he intended the fast, then broke the fast after the sun had declined?” Imam عليه السلام said: “He has done wrong, and there is nothing upon him except making up that day which he had intended to make up.”
