Chapter on Making Up the Month of Ramadan, and the Ruling of One Who Breaks the Fast in It Intentionally and Forgetfully, and One upon Whom Fasting Two Consecutive Months Is Obligatory and He Breaks the Fast during Them, or upon Whom There Is a Vow Regarding Fasting
Al-Husayn ibn Said, from Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr, from Hammad, from al-Halabi, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him:
Imam عليه السلام said: “The fasting of the expiation of the oath in zihar is two consecutive months, and consecutiveness is that he fasts a month and fasts from the other some days or something from it. Then if something occurs to him from which he breaks the fast, he breaks the fast, then makes up what remains upon him. And if he fasts a month, then something occurs to him, so he breaks the fast before fasting anything from the other, then he has not maintained consecutiveness, so let him repeat the entire fast.” And Imam عليه السلام said: “The fasting of three days in the expiation of an oath is consecutive, and they are not to be separated.”
