From him, from Ahmad ibn Abdus, from al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Faddal, from Abdullah ibn Sinan, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him: (Imam عليه السلام was asked) regarding ‘a man who made a vow to Allah سبحانه وتعالى upon himself to fast a year, but he was not able.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “He fasts a month and part of the other month.” Then Imam عليه السلام said: “There is no harm in cutting off the fast.”
