Muhammad ibn Yaqub, from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abi Umayr, from Hammad, from al-Halabi, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: I (narrator) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘a woman who entered the morning while fasting, then when the day had risen, or when it was evening, she menstruated. Should she break her fast?’ Imam عليه السلام said: “Yes, and even if it is the time of sunset, let her break her fast.” He (narrator) said: “And I asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘a woman who saw purity at the beginning of the day in the month of Ramadan, so she performs the ritual bath (taghtasil), and has not eaten. What should she do regarding that day?’” Imam عليه السلام said: “She should break her fast on that day, for her breaking of the fast is only due to the blood.”
