Muhammad ibn Isa, from Ali and Ishaq, the two sons of Sulayman ibn Dawud, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad: He (narrator) said: “A man wrote to al-Faqih عليه السلام, ‘O my master, I vowed that whenever the night prayer missed me, I would fast on its morning’, but that missed him. What should he do, and is there a way out for him from that, and how much expiation is obligatory upon him for the fast of each day that he left, if he wishes to make expiation for that?” He (narrator) said: “So the Imam عليه السلام, peace be upon him, wrote, ‘He distributes (charity), for each day, a mudd of food as expiation.’”
