The Signs of the Mahdī’s Reappearance

Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh and ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaʿfar al-Ḥimyarī together said: “Yaʿqūb b. Yazīd narrated to us, from Aḥmad b. Hilāl—during the period of his uprightness—from Muḥammad b. Abī ʿUmayr, from Ibn Udhayna, from Zurāra, who narrated: “I said to Abī ʿAbd Allāh عليه السلام: “Does the Imam die without leaving behind offspring of his?” He replied: “That would not be.” I followed up: “What, then, would it be?” He concluded: “That would not be except that Allāh عز وجل therefore expresses His wrath upon His creation, hastening them (towards destruction).”
