Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub, from Al-‘Abbas ibn Ma‘ruf, from Ali ibn Mahziyar, from Fadalah ibn Ayyub, from Musa ibn Bakr, from Zurarah, said: I heard (Imam) Abu Ja‘far, peace be upon him, forbid the wearing of silk for both men and women, except for silk mixed with ‘khazz’ (a kind of fabric), the weft or the warp of which is ‘khazz’ or linen or cotton. Pure silk alone is disliked for both men and women.
