As for what was narrated by Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Musa ibn al-Qasim, from Ali ibn Ja’far, from his brother (Imam) Musa عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said:
I asked Him عليه السلام about a man who is praying one of the obligatory prayers in which the recitation is normally to be done aloud, is it required of him not to recite aloud? Imam عليه السلام said: "If he wishes, he may recite aloud, and if he wishes, he may refrain from doing so."
